50 years ago, the University of Ostend held a great council of wizards from all across Arden. They came from many races, many traditions, and they found that there was much they could do for the benefit of all if they could work together. It was decided that they would start a Wizards' College at Radagon. The area as infested with monsters and brigands that preyed upon the scattred settlements of homesteaders and rural villagers. The Wizards used their power to build a mighty tower in the depths of the wilderness; it stood high above the hills and treetops, shining white against the sky. The monsters and brigands were driven away and soon the wizards established the rule of Tellurian Law. The people of the region gladly swore fealty to the Wizards' Tower, and under their leadership they found that the crops were always plentiful and the hunting always good.
Over the last few years, the Wizards of Radagon have met with the Chancellor of Ostend and The King of Morgenhelm and have formed an alliance to resist the domination of the Draconian Legion. Wizards have been flocking to the College from all across the land, and the strength of the Tower grows year after year. Many say that they are a new hope for Arden, and that Radagon will bring an end to the Fear and Darkness, but some whisper that no good will come of it. They say that the Wizards are meddling in affairs that are beyond their reckoning, and their folly will lead to the ruin of all.
The College itself is a complicated web of politial maneuverings; Wizard Lords of various races and alignments plot and scheme for mastery over the Wizards' Council, each with their own ambitions and goals. The council has stated that its purpose is the Enlightenment of Arden, but there can be many paths to enlightenment... it is still too soon to tell which path Radagon is on.
